The Highways Department officials repaired the road in three hours and traffic resumed at 11 pm.
Coimbatore: Even as heavy rains lashed the Western Ghats, especially the Pollachi region over the past few days, a landslide occurred on Wednesday.
At around 8 am, there were deep pits that had opened up on the Valparai road near the Aliyar check post.
Following this, forest and police officials set up barricades across the road.
All traffic, including buses, cars and two wheelers on Aliyar-Valparai road were temporarily suspended till the pits were filled and the road was repaired.
The Highways Department officials were engaged in repairing the tar road for three hours and traffic resumed at 11 am.
The Forest Department has announced that motorists passing through the hilly terrain should proceed safely due to the continuous rains.
