Heavy rain lashes Valparai; Rivers are flooded and the water level of the Sholayar dam rises

Heavy rains lashed estate areas like Mudis, Pachamalai, Nadumalai, Kavarakkal, Rottikadai and Karumalai. Power was disrupted in some places at night due to rain.


Coimbatore: Heavy rains lashed the surrounding areas of Valparai in Coimbatore district last night. Valparai Akkamalai, Sholayar Dam. Heavy rains lashed estate areas like Mudis, Pachamalai, Nadumalai, Kavarakkal, Rottikadai and Karumalai. The power was disrupted in some places at night due to rain and it was getting dark.

Rainfall received in Valparai and status of water level in the Sholayar dam is as follows as of 6:00 am:-

Valparai: 86 mm rainfall

Symbols: 66 mm of rain

Water All: 65 mm of rainfall

Sholayar dam: 34 mm of rainfall has been reported.

Water supply to Sholayar Dam is 1180.43 cubic feet

Water reserve in the dam: 3290.61 cubic feet

862.61 cubic feet of water is discharged from the dam to generate electricity.

The height of the dam to 165 feet is currently reported to be 160.61 feet.
