The mechanic was lauded for his quick thinking in enlisting the help of passers-by to call his friends and hunt down the miscreants who had robbed him of his mobile phone.
Coimbatore: A 31-year old mechanic, Rajesh, along with his friends chased down men who robbed his mobile phone on Tuesday night in Annur.
Rajesh (31), a native of Pudukkottai works as a mechanic in Annur. On Tuesday night, when Rajesh was strolling along the Kanchampalli area in Annur, he was stopped by mysterious men who brandished a knife and demanded that he hand over money. Rajesh who had no money at that time was pushed down and robbed of his mobile phone. The men fled the spot.
Rajesh acted quickly, informed his friends of the incident with the help of passers-by and went on a hunt to trace the miscreants. He found the miscreants and handed them over to the Annur Police Station.
The accused were identified as Neeshdaar (21) of Mettupalayam and Dinesh (22) of Karamadai. Investigations revealed that Dinesh, one of the two accused, has been charged earlier for thefts, at various police stations. Neeshdaar and Dinesh were booked and lodged in jail. Rajesh and his friends were lauded by the police for their quick thinking in nabbing the miscreants.
