PAP water which was released through Chettikapalayam and Vadachithur branch canals into the Gothawadi pond 10 days ago was stopped by the Public Works Department.
Coimbatore: The banks of the Gothawadi pond located in the Gothawadi area near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district have been strengthened with the help of the Gothawadi Pond Conservation Organization, volunteers and farmers to create waterways.
The farmers demanded that PAP water be released to the Gothawadi pond since there was no water in the Gothawadi pond. Accordingly, PAP water was released through Chettikapalayam and Vadachithur branch canals about 10 days ago.
But farmers who were waiting for the Gothawadi pond to fill up were disappointed when the Public Works Department suddenly stopped the flow of water from the PAP canal to the Gothawadi pond. Hence, the farmers have demanded that the PAP water should be released again until the pond is full.
