Coimbatore: Petitions are being received through the first Coimbatore Integrated District Organization Working Committee meeting in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji and DMK Deputy General Secretary received the petitions.
The filing of petitions for the local body elections on behalf of the DMK in the Coimbatore district began today. Petitions are being received from today till the 19th. DMK wants to contest in local bodies in Coimbatore Corporation, town panchayats and panchayats. DMK candidates from all over Coimbatore district who want to contest in the local body elections are filing nominations. Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji and DMK Deputy General Secretary are receiving the petitions.
Minister Senthil Balaji told a working committee meeting that the by-elections, which begin today, would continue until the 19th. Anyone can file a petition. After considering the filing of this optional petition, all other than the persons notifying the leadership shall serve the election. If there is a problem with the candidates standing in the opposite row, disciplinary action will be taken by the Chief Minister.
He said we need to think about why we lost in Coimbatore district. The minister announced that the party must win in 275 wards in Coimbatore Corporation, town panchayat and panchayat. He said Chief Minister's choice must be accepted and everyone must work. There are 2298 polling booths in Coimbatore. A team of 12 people must work for a polling station. Everyone has to meet the people, go in person and campaign for votes. The Booth Committee should be formed within 4 days prior to the election.

Up to 80,000 petitions have been received in 102 places after the conclusion of the People's Assembly program. It is expected that one lakh petitions are filed.
Those on the Booth Committee should ensure that the petitions received are resolved. He said though few allege that some government officials in Coimbatore district are listening to the AIADMK, parties should feel responsible and attend government ceremonies. He said parties in Coimbatore district should no longer give shawls and bouquets.
