New Agricultural Afforestation Scheme; Farmers can get saplings free of cost official information

Under this scheme various quality saplings including teak, spear, medicine, neem, novel, sandalwood are being produced in the government nurseries under the Forest Department and are ready to be distributed to the farmers. The selling price of a sapling is Rs.15.


Coimbatore: In all the regions of Coimbatore district, through the Tamil Nadu Department of Agriculture and Agrarian Welfare, a new agroforestry project called 'Movement for Sustainable Green Blanket in Tamil Nadu Agricultural Lands' is being implemented.

Under this scheme, saplings will be provided to farmers and tree based farming will be promoted.

Under this scheme various quality saplings including teak, spear, medicine, neem, novel, sandalwood are being produced in the government nurseries under the Forest Department and are ready to be distributed to the farmers. The selling price of a sapling is Rs.15. Farmers can register at the nearest Agricultural Extension Center to get the saplings and acquire the required saplings free of cost from the nursery of the nearest forest department as per the recommendation of the Department of Agriculture.

Coimbatore District Joint Director of Agriculture Chitradevi said arrangements are made for the farmers to register and obtain the required saplings through the Uzhavan app.
