The meeting of the Federation Of Coimbatore Industrial Associations (FOCIA) was hosted here on Monday and resolutions were passed.
Coimbatore: The Federation Of Coimbatore Industrial Associations (FOCIA) meeting was hosted in RS Puram in Coimbatore on Monday.
The following resolutions were passed in the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that the small and medium enterprises must be protected and be vocal throughout the state in view of the following:-
The rise in raw material prices has disturbed the small and medium-sized enterprises, causing innumerable workers lose their jobs. The Union Government has not paid heed to the demand to curb price hike of raw materials, despite being a year since request and 50% reduction in production by manufacturing sector entrepreneurs.
The micro-entrepreneurs suffer without orders. It was decided to take steps to address the issue by holding talks with the industries across Tamil Nadu and raise their voices throughout the state to protect the micro-enterprises.
A 25% subsidy is being provided by the state government to the medium enterprises to purchase new machines. It is now mandatory that an ISO certificate must be obtained for subsidies, which the industrialists object to. They state that micro-entrepreneurs are forced to spend thousands of rupees to get the ISO Certificate in order to avail subsidies. Due to this situation, micro-entrepreneurs are not able to avail themselves subsidies and are under severe pressure. They have thus demanded the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to withdraw the order to obtain an ISO certificate and to demand easy subsidy for micro-entrepreneurs
