Two associates of Angoda Lokka arrested; CBCID submits petition at the Coimbatore court demanding custodial interrogation for 7 days

The police arrested two associates of the late don Angoda Lokka in Bengaluru recently and they have demanded a custodial investigation of the duo for 7 days.


Coimbatore: The CBCID filed a petition in the Coimbatore Chief Criminal Court seeking 7 days permission to take into custody and interrogate two persons, including an associate of the former Sri Lankan underworld don Angoda Lokka, who died in Coimbatore.

The police led by DSP Sivakumar arrested two persons, including an associate of the former Sri Lankan don, Angoda Lokka on the 12th in Bengaluru. Following the arrest, the CBCID has submitted a petition to interrogate the arrested, seeking 7 days custody. The hearing on the petition is to be held tomorrow.

Chanuka Thananayaka, (38), of Athuragiriya, Sri Lanka, and Gopalakrishnan of Subbaiah Palayam, Bengaluru who offered the former don shelter were arrested by the team led by DSP Sivakumar in Bengaluru and are imprisoned.

Angoda Lokka, a former underworld don in Sri Lanka, lived with his girlfriend Ammani Tanji, under the name Pradeep Singh, in Cheranmanagar, Coimbatore. Angoda Lokka reportedly died on July 4, 2020. Angoda Lokka’s body was received from the Government Hospital in Coimbatore by issuing pseudo certificates and was cremated in Madurai.

The CBCID arrested Ammani Tanji of Sri Lanka, Sivagami Sundari, a Madurai-based lawyer, and Dhyaneswaran of Tirupur, who were complicit in burning the body.
