Police arrested a 20-year-old man who married a 16-year-old girl near Negombo under The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences, or POCSO.
Pollachi: Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for marrying a 16-year-old girl near Negamam under The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences, or POCSO.
Vinod Kumar (20) is from Negamam next to Pollachi. He and a 16-year-old girl from a village near Negamam were in a relationship. Vinod Kumar married the girl six months ago.
The girl is currently 6-months pregnant. In this case, the girl has gone to the primary health center to be tested for pregnancy. The doctors who examined the girl there informed the child protection center.
Following this, the authorities rushed there and conducted an investigation. It had come to light that the girl is 16-years-old. Following this, the district child protection officers lodged a complaint at the All Women Police Station and the police searched for Vinod Kumar after registering a case under The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences, or POCSO.
Following this, the police arrested Vinod Kumar near the Kovilpalayam bus stand.
