Two special teams formed to nab School principal in girl’s suicide case in Coimbatore

The Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayachandran inspected the house of the school girl who committed suicide as she was sexual harassment by her teacher. Two special teams formed to nab the school principal.



Coimbatore: The Deputy Commissioner of Police has stated that two special teams are formed to nab the Chinmaya Vidyalaya, RS Puram Principal Meera Jackson in connection with the suicide of school girl.

Students of the school staged a protest wearing black shirts condemning the teacher and the school principal. A class 12 student committed suicide as she was sexual harassed by her physics teacher, Mithun Chakravarthy who also sexual tortured the victim. He is booked under three sections including POCSO and is jailed.

Students protested wearing black shirts in front of the hospital demanding action against the school administration. Deputy Commissioner of North Zone Jayachandran inspected 17-year-old student’s house. He later stated that, 'School principal Meera Jackson has been booked under the POSCO Act and two teams are formed to arrest her who is absconding. Search operation to nab her has been intensified.'



17-year-old student a schoolgirl from Coimbatore was studying grade 11 in RS Puram Chinmaya Vidyalaya. She stated that she doesn’t wish to continue studying at the school and changed to another school in RS Puram in September. The girl out of the blue hanged herself on Thursday. Much to her parents surprise they found a letter identifying Mithun and two others in connection with the sexual harassment she was subjected to, which led the police arrest Mithun.

Deputy Commissioner of Coimbatore North Region Jayachandran visited Dharani's house and inspected the home. He met reporters and stated that all those who had distressed the girl will be dealt with by law.

School principal, Meera Jackson is booked under the POCSO Act, but is absconding. Two teams are formed to nab the principal. Two others apart from Mithun, mentioned by in the suicide note left behind by the girl are being interrogated. Deputy commissioner stated that necessary action will be taken to ensure that the teenage girl and her family get justice.

The girl’s family refused to receive the girl’s corpse from Coimbatore Government Hospital and demanded action against the teacher and the school management, who are responsible for the suicide. It is learned that Meera Jackson’s failed to take action against Mithun. The girl’s family demanded arrest of Meera Jackson.

The West All Women Police are interrogating the headmistress of the school and the two others mentioned in the suicide note left behind. A number of students and relatives wearing black shirts are protesting in front of the government hospital GH mortuary demanding the arrest of those who are responsible for the suicide of the teenager and raised slogans on not giving up protest until justice is delivered.

This created stirs in the area and 200 odd people were protesting near the girl’s house as well. Police is deployed in the area for safety purposes and to ensure law and order is maintained.
