TMMK demands teacher who sexually harassed student that led to her suicide to be booked for murder

The TMMK members demanded that the school teacher who led the minor student to commit suicide by sexually harassing her ought to be booked for murder and the family to be compensated with Rs. 25 lakhs.



Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) party members have demanded that the physics teacher of a private school who had assaulted his minor student sexually which led her to end her life by suicide must be booked for murder.

17-year-old student studying at Chinmaya Vidyalaya ended her life by hanging herself to death on Thursday evening at her house after the physics teacher had continually harassed the girl sexually. The girl's parents alleged that Mithun Chakravarthy, the physics teacher had sexually harassed 17-year-old student and the School Head, Meera Jackson had not initiated any action against the teacher despite the girl complaining of the assault in the school.

TMMK cadres condemned the incident and requested the police to conduct a thorough investigation and take stringent action against both the School Head and the physics teacher. They demanded that the teacher be booked for murder and also urged the Government of Tamil Nadu to provide proper counselling for teachers in all schools in Tamil Nadu to avoid such incidents. They demanded that the school administration pay a compensation of Rs.25 lakhs to the minor girl's family.
