Police have arrested 4 men in Tirupur for extorting Rs.9,13,000 from a TASMAC Manager by brandishing a knife.
Tirupur: Raja Prakash who works as a Manager at a Government liquor store in Tirupur's Kasipalayam area took Rs. 9,13,000 from the shop on the first day to submit the sale amount. Four men suddenly brandished knives, extorted money and fled in a two-wheeler.
Following a complaint lodged by Raja Prakash, the police set up a special team to investigate. Karthik, Pavithran, Manikandan from Tirunelveli district and Kumaresan from Erode district were arrested in connection with the incident.
They confiscated Rs.6,10,000 from them as well as two knives which were sometimes used to threaten riders on two-wheelers. Police investigations have revealed that burglary and murder cases are already pending against the detainees in various districts.
