Coimbatore: Cargo handling at the Integrated Air Cargo complex at Coimbatore Airport continues to witness steady growth.
At present in India only domestic flight service are allowed. But exemptions are given to repatriation flights and flight services provided by International airlines. At present Air Arabia is the only airline which is providing service between Coimbatore and Sharjah.
In the domestic sector various airlines such as Air India, Indigo, Spice Jet, Go Air are providing services to various destinations. Passenger numbers continues to increase. On the other side the Cargo movement at Coimbatore International Airport also continues to witness a good growth every month.
Aviation aources said, "During September 798 tonnes of cargo (includes both domestic and international) was handled at Coimbatore airport. During October 937 tonnes of cargo has been handled which includes 142 tonnes in the international sector and 795 tonnes in the domestic sector. 17% overall growth was witnessed during October when compared with September." aviation sources said."
