The Nilgiris: The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains for Nilgiris district, on Thursday and Friday.
Heavy overcast skies could be seen in Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri and surrounding areas of Nilgiris district from Thursday morning. By afternoon, the overcast skies gave way to rains in Naduvattam, Lovedale, Ketti and Palada.
Due to the heavy rains in Ooty, some of the roads in Coonoor and Kotagiri were covered with thick fog, forcing motorists to switch on the headlights of their vehicles and progress very slowly.
It is reported that normal life of the public has been affected.
