Coimbatore South Assembly Member Vanathi Srinivasan appeared in the Coimbatore High Court today in connection with the AIADMK-BJP clash in the 2016 Assembly elections.
Coimbatore: During the 2016 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Vanathi Srinivasan of the BJP and Amman Arjunan of the AIADMK contested as candidates for the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency.
When Vanathi Srinivasan went to the temple in the big bazaar area after the election campaign, an argument turned into a scuffle between Adinarayanan, the former AIADMK Coimbatore Central Regional Chairman, and the BJP leader. Adinarayanan was later treated at the Coimbatore Government Hospital, claiming that the BJP had attacked him.
Big Bazaar police have registered a case and are investigating. The case is under investigation.
Vanathi Srinivasan, leader of the BJP's national women's wing and a member of the Coimbatore South Assembly, appeared in person for the hearing of the case at Coimbatore Additional Court No. 5 today.
The trial judge adjourned the case to May 23.
