Coimbatore: The Chennai Meteorological Department has issued a 'red alert' for Chennai for two days, soon after which the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin tweeted on his Twitter handle requesting the public to safeguard themselves during the rains.
The Northeast monsoon has intensified and Tamil Nadu has been experiencing widespread rainfall in the last few days. The state capital, Chennai has been engulfed by floodwater, affecting normalcy in the city. The Meteorological Department has issued a 'red alert' warning that Chennai is likely to experience heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin took to his Twitter handle asking people in Chennai to be safe for the next two days.
He also stated that he visited the flood control room set up for the public and reviewed the disposal of the waste dumped in the canal at Thiyagaraya Nagar.
