The villagers demanded that an over bridge be built at two sites. So the MP visited and inspected both places and it has been decided to build over bridges at both the places. He said the work would be carried out soon with funds from the District Disaster Management Fund and the state government.

Coimbatore: MP said that in Pollachi, high bridges will be built at two dangerous places where traffic will be disrupted due to rains. It has been raining continuously across Tamil Nadu for the last few days.

The Coimbatore district continues to receive heavy rains in and around Pollachi. Due to this, the water level in many dams including Sholayar Dam, Parambikulam Dam and Aliyar Dam is rising rapidly. As well as the ponds in various villages are overflowing.

In this, the lake formed near the Gopalsamy hill and crossed various villages was flooded and it later joins the Aliyar River. In particular, the two footbridges across the lake near South Chittoor village and Bedanayakkanur village near Kongampalayam were flooded. Thus the villagers suffer from not being able to cross

Pollachi MP Shanmugasundar visited and inspected these two sites accompanied by Anaimalai Tahsildar Banumathi, Anaimalai Panchayat Union Regional Development Officer Balasubramaniam, DMK. Anaimalai East Union Officer Yuvaraj, District Literary Wing Deputy Organizer Veerappan, South Chittoor Panchayat President Selvanayagam Rajamanickam, Bethanayakkanur Panchayat President Jayanathan and many others were present.

After the study, according to MP Shanmugasundaram, a large number of villagers have been crossing the footbridge to go to various places. The footbridge was submerged due to the flood in the lake. Thus the transport has been cut off. The villagers demanded that an over bridge be built in the area. So they visited and inspected both places and it has been decided to build over bridges at both the places. He said the work would be carried out soon with funds from the District Disaster Management Fund and the state government.
