The Pollachi All Women Police arrested a 21-year old youth under POCSO Act for marrying a 13-year old girl under false pretences.
Pollachi: A 21-year old boy was arrested in Pollachi under the POCSO Act by the Pollachi All Women Police for marrying a 13-year old minor girl, after a relative of the minor girl lodged a complaint that the boy married the girl under false pretences.
The youth and the girl allegedly developed a relationship when the boy visited Pollachi to meet his sister’s groom. The youth took the girl to a nearby temple a few days ago and reportedly married her. Based on the complaint, the Pollachi All Women Police Station investigated and discovered that the boy had sexually harassed the minor girl.
On the orders of the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, S Selvanagarathinam and on the instructions of Pollachi Deputy Superintendent, Tamilmani, a police team from the All Women's Police Station arrested the youth under the Prevention of Child Marriage Act and POCSO Act, and imprisoned him.
