Tamil Nadu government requested to permit devotees inside temple for Kanda Sashti Soorasamharam Festival

Devotees were not able to celebrate the Soorasamaharam festival due to corona virus infection for the last two years. Devotees stated it was unfortunate that they were not allowed inside the temple during the festive season, despite the current relaxation of the curfew and requested that the Tamil Nadu government grants permission for devotees to visit temple during the festive season.


Tirupur: Kandasashti, also known as Soorasamaharam, is a festival celebrated by Tamils all over the world.

Traditionally many people complete their fast by visiting Murugan temple on the day of Kandasashti, following the Sashti fast. The ancient Konkanagiri Arulmigu Sri Valli Devasena Sameda Sri Kanda Peruman Thirukoil on Tirupur College Road today presented a sandalwood display decoration of Lord Murugan Valli Deivana. This was a visual treat for the devotees.

The annual Soorasamaharam festival is celebrated at the Kandapperuman temple which is believed to grant all wishes of devotees. Devotees were not able to celebrate the Soorasamaharam festival due to corona virus infection for the last two years. Devotees said it was unfortunate that they are not allowed inside the temple during the festive season despite the current relaxation of the curfew and demanded that the Tamil Nadu government grants them permission to visit the temple during the festive season.
