The Potential Linked Credit Plan for the FY 2022-23 prepared by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has assessed the credit potential for the Coimbatore District at Rs. 25,004.27 crore, a projected growth of about 8.88% more than the projections for the current year.
Coimbatore: The Potential Linked Credit Plan for the FY 2022-23 prepared by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has assessed the credit potential for the Coimbatore District at Rs. 25,004.27 crore, a projected growth of about 8.88% more than the projections for the current year. The PLP forms the basis for finalization of the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) of the district.
The PLP document was released by Dr. G. S. Sameeran, District Collector, Coimbatore during a meeting held on Tuesday, in the presence of R. Saranya, Additional Collector, Kavitha, PD, DRDA, B. Karthigaivasan, GM, District Industries Centre (DIC), P. Kousalyadevi, Lead District Manager (LDM), C. Thirumala Rao, DDM (District Development Manager), NABARD and Government Department officials and bankers who participated in the meeting.
Releasing the document, the District Collector advised the banks to ensure hassle free loans for education, MSME sector and loans under various government schemes. He encouraged the bankers to look at Coimbatore District’s potential as an Industrial District and informed that the potential must be utilized to its fullest to promote more entrepreneurs.
C. Thirumala Rao, DDM (District Development Manager), NABARD indicated that the PLP for the district of Coimbatore has been prepared in consultation with officials at the block, district and state level departments in the government, banks and thanked all for the support.
Highlighting the sector wise credit plan, he informed that the PLP projection is 10.10% more than the ACP target for Financial Year 2021-22 which can be attributed to the national priorities of Government of India to scale up lending to the various sectors of the economy. The share in the PLP estimates 2022-23 for agriculture sector is Rs.9,118.88 crore with farm credit estimated at Rs. 8,013.41 crore. Keeping in view the recent policy initiatives of Government of India to push the MSME sector, an amount of Rs. 10,573.33 crore has been estimated for the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Kausalya Devi Lead District Manager, Canara Bank informed that based on the potential estimated in the PLP for the coming year, a background paper will be circulated by the Lead Bank, along with the block-wise, activity-wise potential identified in the plan. Banks will prepare their branch level credit plans so as to finalize the block credit plans and then district credit plan for the year 2022-23.
