The TMMK State Secretary lauded the TN CM, M K Stalin for direct field work done when Chennai was hard-hit by heavy rains, as well as for appointing IAS officers zone-wise.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) held a press conference at their office in the heart of Coimbatore.
The TMMK State Secretary said, "Chennai has been hit hard by rains. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin did excellent field work. He went straight down onto the field to take action and also appointed IAS officers, zone-wise. In 100 wards in the city of Coimbatore, during the previous regime, motorists were involved in accidents due to rainwater stagnating and due to non-completion of sewerage works and non-construction of roads, as well as non-closure of pits that had been dug up for Suez drinking water project."
"In Coimbatore, 6 overbridge works are underway causing traffic snarls. There is a rupture in Valangulam which needs to be rectified immediately. In particular, the 86th Ward has been plagued by a sewage truck dumping sewage causing a strong stench which the public fear would cause viral disease and swine flu. Therefore, action should be taken not to dump waste here. Street dog menace too is on the rise. Action must be taken to prevent these dogs from attacking the public.
As far as TMMK is concerned, during natural disasters, our volunteers are doing field work. We are engaged in rescue work in every district. We have 5 ambulances ready and over 100 volunteers to do field work in Chennai during the rains. A field work committee has also been set up in Coimbatore," detailed the TMMK State Secretary.
The press conference was attended by the District Chairman Ahmed Kabir, District Treasurer Abbas and many others including Mujibur Rahman and Asik Ali.
