An 8-year-old elephant slipped and fell into a small ditch near the Naickenpalayam reserve in the Periyanaickenpalayam forest reserve in Coimbatore. The injured elephant was given intensive treatment by the Mudumalai Forest Veterinary Team. Unfortunately the sick male elephant died today as treatment failed.
Coimbatore: The elephant that slipped in the mud in Coimbatore on the 6th was rescued and treated by the forest department veterinarians. However, this morning the elephant died not responding to treatment. On the 6th of this month, an 8-year-old elephant slipped and fell into a small ditch near the Naickenpalayam reserve in the Periyanaickenpalayam forest reserve in Coimbatore. Upon information Periyanaickenpalayam forest field staff immediately rescued the elephant.
Subsequently, the elephant was treated by a team of specialists comprising of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve Veterinarian Rajesh Kumar and Govanur Veterinary Assistant Vetrivel. Field workers continued to monitor the elephant that had entered the bush. In this condition, the elephant came into the patta land about 250 meters outside the forest at 7.00 am yesterday. The elephant, whose health was recouping, lay down there. Following this, the affected elephant was given intensive treatment by the Mudumalai Forest Veterinary Team.
