For the third consecutive year, members of the Rotract Club of Coimbatore Ikons have collected and distributed sweets to families from socio economically challenging backgrounds.
According to one of the members of the club, collection of the sweet boxes took place on November 5th and 6th and the distribution was done the following day. On the two days alone, as many as 260 boxes of sweets were collected. Well wishers, near and dear ones and good Samaritans contributed towards the cause.
On November 7th, members of the Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Ikons, visited the Vadakkalur village and distributed the sweet box to 85 families and in the Thekkalur Village, the club distributed the sweet box to 65 families.
Speaking about the initiative, Piyush Jain from the Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Ikons told SimpliCity “the experience was overwhelming. We are more than happy that we could bring a smile on the beneficiaries faces. We distributed candies and chocolates to little children and they were happy too. This is third year, ‘Khushiyan Banto’, is implemented and we are hopeful that this initiative continues every diwali.”
The Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Ikons is thankful to supports and donors who have contributed towards the success of the initiative. The club also placed on record its sincere thanks to Dr. Ignatius Chakravarthy and Lakit Bhati for supporting the initiative. ‘Khushiyan Banto’, when translated means spread happiness and this diwali, The Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Ikons has done just that.
