As part of a symbolic protest, the public along with the Traders Association staged a protest by sowing seedlings in the stagnant rainwater on roads demanding repair and relay of roads.
Coimbatore: A seedling-sowing protest was staged in Coimbatore demanding the repair and relay of proper roads in Sanganoor-Nallampalaym road on Sunday.
The routes have been diverted to Rathinapuri, Sanganoor to Nallampalayam in Coimbatore as the construction of flyover is in progress on the Mettupalayam road. The heavy rains in the region have caused potholes, and rainwater logging on the road, resulting in major accidents at night times, especially for the two-wheeler riders.

Despite multiple petitions to level the roads using construction wastes and sand, no action has been taken so far. The Traders Association President, Lingam, General Secretary VR Velumayil, over 20 people including youths, women, and the public staged a symbolic protest on Sunday against the city corporation.
