The city police have arrested 7 members in connection to the case where a jewellery dealer was robbed of 2 kg gold and 7 lakh cash in Vadavalli
Coimbatore: The District Police have arrested 7 persons who waylaid a jewellery dealer in Coimbatore and made away with 7 lakh cash, 2 kg gold.
Shanmugam is a jeweller hailing from Sathyamanagalam in Erode. Shanmugam was stopped at the Thondamuthur- Vadavalli road by 2 unknown persons on the 30th while he was arriving from Sathyamangalam. Shanmugam carried 2 kg gold, 7 lakh cash in hand that he bought to convert into hallmark jewellery.
The miscreants took away the cash and gold Shanmugam possessed at knifepoint. A special squad was formed by the Vadavalli police who registered a case to nab the miscreants.The police arrested 7 persons Abdul Hakim, Ashraf Ali, Bhavani, Venkatachalam, Power Singh, Dinesh Rawal, and Ranjit Singh in connection with the robbery. The two main accused are absconded and the police are searching. Investigations have revealed that the incident was a planned robbery.
