Travel agency owner who swindled Rs. 50 lakhs and issued pseudo job appointments to public arrested. Police on look out for two more involved.


Coimbatore: Police have arrested a travel agency owner who allegedly swindled Rs 50 lakh by issuing fake appointment orders to the public claiming that the government would hire them.

In Coimbatore, the police arrested the owner of travel agency, who issued a fake order for government work and swindled 50 lakh rupees. Lokesh Aravind, (28), of Coimbatore RS Puram, is acquainted with Mohan, (40), a travel agency owner from Mettupalayam.

A relative of Mohan told Lokesh Aravind that he was working as an officer in the Civil Service Selection Board. He also said that there are vacancies for office assistants in agriculture and if he was paid, he would inform his relatives and get the needy jobs.

Using this modus operandi Lokesh Arvind collected Rs 50 lakh from 18 people and handed it over to Mohan. The latter, who received the money, has prepared and issued fake job appointments.

When the candidates went to work with this order, it was revealed that the documents are forged. A complaint was lodged with the Coimbatore District Crime Branch Police. Police arrested and questioned Mohan.

One lakh 20 thousand rupees was recovered from him. Police are looking for two more people involved.
