Coimbatore: The court dismissed the pre-bail petition of a fugitive booked for smuggling Public Distribution System (PDS) rice to Kerala.
The youth's bail plea who smuggled four tonnes of PDS rice to Kerala, was 'dismissed'. Pollachi Food Smuggling Prevention Unit police, while conducting a vehicle check at L&T Bypass, chased down the tempo which went off without stopping.
However, when the tempo was halted, the driver fled. When the tempo was inspected, there were four tonnes of PDS rice in the sacks.
