The city police have arrested a man who killed a 20-year old girl by squeezing her neck. The girl and the man had an illicit affair.
Coimbatore: The district police arrested a man on Thursday who allegedly killed his girlfriend by choking her to death.
Ashwathi, (20) is a B.Com graduate was living in Saibaba Colony. She worked at a fruit shop in Thadagam Road. Ashwathi befriended her co-worker and her husband, Jagan, (29). The friendship developed into an extra-marital affair and Jagan’s wife separated from him due to the issue.
Ashwathi was found hanging in her house that arose suspicions. She had traces of cloth tightened around her neck. Saibaba Colony police recovered the body and sent it to a government hospital for post mortem. Investigations revealed that Ashwathi was murdered over a love affair.
Police arrested Jagan, who was hiding in Nilgiris district last evening. They are continuing to investigate.
