According to reports, Premkumar, (28), of Mangu, Thiruppuvanam, Sivagangai district, and Tamilchelvan, (28), of Madurai were found to have stolen jewellery. This came to light during a search operation led by a special team of police. Premkumar is arrested by the police and the jewellery was recovered from him.
Coimbatore: Police have arrested and jailed thieves who robbed an iron merchants house. Jewellery valued about 105 pounds was reportedly stolen from the house located in the Maniyakaranpalayam area of Ganapathy in Coimbatore a few days ago.
Police said Dinakaran, (44), is an iron merchant from Velan nagar, Maniyakarampalayam, Ganapathy, in Coimbatore. When he went out of town a few days ago, some unidentified men broke the lock of his house and robbed him of 105 sovereigns of the yellow metal.
Based on a complaint, Saravanampatti police filed a case and conducted an investigation. According to police sources, Premkumar, (28), of Mangu, Thiruppuvanam, Sivagangai district, and Tamilchelvan, (28), of Madurai were found to have stolen the jewellery. Tamilselvan is said to have acted as the master-mind and Premkumar his aid. The latter was arrested by the police and the jewellery was recovered from him. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in custody yesterday.
