The Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister met the Malasar tribe student who cracked the NEET, presented a laptop to the girl, and stated that necessary support will be provided for her education.
Coimbatore: Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister, met the Malasar tribe girl, Sangavi, who cracked the The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), and presented her with a laptop on Friday.
The Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj visited Sangavi, a Malasar tribe who cleared NEET.
Sangavi is the first amongst the community to clear both grade 12 and the NEET.
Sangavi was presented with a laptop by the Welfare Minister. Sangavi scored a cut-off of 202. The Minister, Kayavizhi visited the aspirant at the Nanjappar Settlement (Malasar Tribe Settlement).
Later, talking to the press, the minister stated that she visited Sangavi upon the Chief Minister's advice and she gave a patient hearing to the requirements for basic amenities for the region. Quoting Periyar’s views on educating girl children, the Minister stated that she visited Sangavi in person as the candidate is an example for the rest of the students in the community.
The Minister assured to provide the necessary support, both on behalf of the state government and personally for Sangavi’s higher education. She stated that the laptop given to the student will help her with education. The Minister added that proper education for the tribe will improve their livelihood. She has directed the District Collector to take necessary steps to enhance basic amenities in the area. The Minister, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj stated steps for easy facilitation and issue of community certificates will be taken.
