Forest officials in Kotagiri save bison struggling with nylon rope around neck

Forest officials in Kotagiri rescued a bison which was fighting for its life owing to a nylon rope around its neck.



The Nilgiris: Wildlife movement has been rampant in the Kotagiri region of Nilgiris district in recent times, especially in residential areas and tea estates.

A bison was found with a nylon rope tied around its neck, in a tea garden near the village of Anayatti near Kotagiri.

The people of the area immediately tied the bison to a tree and informed the forest department.



Forest officials led by forest officer Felix rushed to the spot and struggled for about an hour to release the nylon rope around the bison's neck.



The bison was then released into the woods. The villagers lauded the forest department for their efforts.
