TPDK said Narakasuran is the ancestor of the Tamils and they said that death was not a festival to be celebrated but a day to pay homage to the hero.
Coimbatore: Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam hosted a function at their head office in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore to pay homage to Narakasuran.
"Narakasuran is known as the ancestor of the Tamils, his death should not be celebrated as a festival with sweets and fireworks but needs to be a day when his memory is honoured and homage paid to the hero," stated the TPDK General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan.
"Maveeran Narakasuran's death will be celebrated as 'Veeravanakam Day' and programs will be held every year to create awareness among the public that Diwali should not be celebrated," added the TDPK General Secretary. Following the event at the TDPK head office, beef biryani was served to everyone gathered.
