Public thronged shops in major parts of Tirupur to make last minute Diwali purchases which resulted in major traffic snarls in the city.
Tirupur: Traffic snarled in major popular areas in Tirupur city as the locals thronged to make last minute purchases for Diwali on Wednesday. Numerous police officers are stationed to regulate traffic in the regions.
Tirupur Kumaran road, park road, and other popular locations, were clogged with the public as everyone stepped out of their homes for making massive festive purchases. People arrived at the Tirupur- Newmarket Road to buy clothes, fancy ornaments, sweets, and crackers for Diwali.
The Tirupur Banyan Company workers who received their Diwali bonus went on a shopping spree to purchase electronics including TV, refrigerators, washing machines, and furniture items including cots and bureaus.

Congestions were reported in the areas including at the Newmarket Road, Kamarajar Road, and Kumaran Road leading to traffic in areas including Kumaran Road and Park Road. Police personnel are posted in these areas of congestion to tackle the traffic and manage crowd.
