The Valankulam lake that is under renovation under the Smart City Project will be inspected by a team of technical experts from Delhi.
Coimbatore: A team of technical experts from Delhi will soon visit Coimbatore to inspect the Valankulam, Periyakulam renovation process done as part of the Smart City Project.
Various projects have been announced and implemented at a cost of Rs.1,500 crore under the Smart City Project in Coimbatore City. In particular, the 24-hour water supply scheme, LED electric lighting, multi-level car parking, transfer of Ukkadam Lorry pet, Vellalur Integrated Bus Stand, expansion of the VOC Park, beautification, and improvement of corporation-controlled lakes were announced.
A massive portion of money from the smart city funds is allotted for beautification and renovation of the lakes. The renovation of Valankulam lake in Ukkadam, at an estimate of ₹.48 crore, is in progress. Construction of walking paths, restaurant, visitors hall, gym, children's park, etc., is in progress at Valankulam in Coimbatore. A team of technical experts from Delhi will soon visit the city to inspect the works at Periyakulam, Valankulam.
A Corporation official said, "A team of technicians will visit at regular intervals to discuss the work being done at the lake banks under smart city project in Coimbatore. Thus, a team will be visiting again”.
