The Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department police conducted a vehicle search on the Coimbatore-Palakkad road. The police stopped an auto rickshaw and seized a ton of Public Distribution System (PDS), rice that was being smuggled to Kerala.
The auto driver, Anish, (30), of Palakkad was arrested and 1,105 kg of rice was seized from him. The police confiscated his vehicle as well.
