Rotary club has taken up the responsibility of providing financial assistance to the patients receiving palliative care at the PSG Hospitals.
Coimbatore: The Rotary Club of Coimbatore has joined hands with the PSG Hospitals in providing financial assistance for patients receiving Palliative and Hospice Care.
The patients who require financial assistance receiving treatments at the Santham Palliative and Hospice Care in PSG Hospitals will be taken care of by the Rotary Club.

During the function, Dr Balaji T, Project Director Oncology, PSG Hospitals, and Dr. J.S Bhuvaneswaran, Director PSG Super Speciality Hospitals, Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central Rajasekhar Srinivasan District Governor (2021-22) RI Dist 3201 along with District Director Kumaresa, Assistant Governor K.S Balakrishnan, GGR K. Senthil Kumar, N Subramanian, President, Dr. Piyush Patwa Secretary and Project Chair, Vidhya Shankar, Project Co-ordinator were present.
PSG Hospitals stated that the palliative care services will include value-added services such as recreation, cognitive exercise, yoga, meditation, physiotherapy, nutrition, counselling for patients and family members, visits by the medical and allied teams on a regular basis. Specialist services will be provided on a need basis. On discharge, further, follow-up will be done by regular home visits or Tele-consultation.
Palliative care is a treatment of serious health-related sufferings (SHS). It includes the management of pain and other symptoms and addresses the psychological, social, and spiritual suffering of patients and their families. Palliative care is not restricted to those at end of life (EOL). It is in fact recommended that palliative care be initiated at the time of diagnosis.
Palliative care services have been functioning at PSG Hospitals since May 2020 in collaboration with Coimbatore Cancer Foundation in the form of Core Competencies. Outpatient services, inpatient, referral services, expertise in pain and symptoms management, multi-disciplinary approach, holistic and whole-person care, supportive care during disease directed therapies, advanced health-related communications, end of life care, bereavement support, grief counselling.
The department has daily OP services palliative care inpatient unit.
