Fire-fighters rescued night guards trapped in the floodwaters, Anjaneyar Temple near Pollachi
Coimbatore: The northeast monsoon is intensifying in Tamil Nadu. Pollachi Valparai and its environs, especially in Coimbatore district in the Western Ghats, have been receiving heavy rains for the past few days. Last night near Aliyar, Arthanaripalayam, heavy rains lashed hilly areas including Kottur.
This was followed by flash floods on the shores of the lake. Due to this, the famous Anjaneyar temple located on the banks of the Paalaru in the Chinnampalayam area was flooded. Thus the two guards, Thirumalaisamy and Mahalingam, serving night duty there, were caught in the flood. People in the area informed the fire department this morning.

Fire-fighters rushed from Pollachi, tied a rope and fought for a battle for a long time to rescue the two who guards were trapped in the floodwaters. Extreme level of flood danger is announced for at least two places. Temple officials said devotees should not visit the temple until further notice. The public has praised the fire department for rescuing the guards who were trapped in the floods.
