Due to incessant rains lashing Coimbatore district, 23 ponds including Periyakulam, Valankulam and Singanallur ponds are brimming over. Nilambur Pond and Kuniyamuthur Pond are reportedly filling up too.
Coimbatore: Due to continuous rains in Coimbatore, 23 ponds along the Noyyal river have reached full capacity.
There are 25 ponds on the banks of the Noyyal River which forms in the Western Ghats next to Coimbatore. The canals are designed to fill all these ponds when there is sufficient water in the Noyyal river. Due to continuous rains during the past few days in Coimbatore district, water supply in the Noyyal river has been high.
