Catholic Christians around the world observe November 2 as All Souls' Remembrance Day. Due to Covid-19 the people who go to the cemeteries are advised on behalf of the fathers (Christian priests) to wear face masks and adhere to the social distancing.

This year, as usual, today, November 2, is observed as the All Souls Day. Today the grass and vines in the Catholic Christian Cemetery garden were cut by the people of Valparai St. Heart Church and were freshly painted.

They then lit candles at the graves where their relatives and ancestors were buried, and paid homage by placing garlands.

The day is called the Cemetery Day because Christians flock to the cemetery from morning till evening to pay their respects to the dear departed. In the evening visit the cemeteries to be blessed with holy water. In the morning and evening in the Christian churches masses for the peace of all souls are held.
