Samooga Needhi Katchi cadres protested to declare Tamil as official language in banks, post offices and courts, similar to other states.
Coimbatore: Samooga Needhi Katchi cadres protested at the Coimbatore District Collectorate to declare Tamil as official language in banks, post offices and courts.
"Today, on the day of the formation of Tamil Nadu, we appeal to the Union Government on behalf of the people of Coimbatore. Forms issued by post offices and banks in other states are in their native language. However, in Tamil Nadu, these forms are only in Hindi and English, till date. Thus, those who do not know the language are affected.
Therefore, we request you to ensure forms are in Tamil and to also recommend Tamil language for the High Court proceedings," stated the petition submitted by members of Samooga Needhi Katchi.
