Coimbatore: Farmers in Tamil Nadu have demanded that students in school are taught lessons in agriculture. This request was made on Monday, when schools opened to students from class one and eight.
Tamil Nadu Farmers Association Coimbatore District President Su. Palanisamy said, 'Today's generation is unaware of the seeds and food grains used by farmers. Lessons on seeds and farm farming should be conducted for school children to create awareness about this. Such an attempt has been made in the neighbouring state of Telangana. This will increase the awareness of school children about agriculture in Telangana. Steps should be taken to implement this in Tamil Nadu as well.'
