Tirupur: Farmers in Tirupur submitted a petition to the district collector requesting to release water from Kathankanni Rajavaikkal.
A petition was submitted to the District Collector of Tirupur on behalf of the farmers urging him to ensure that water is released from Rajavaikkal in the Kathankanni area of Kangeyam taluk of Tirupur. 100 odd families are dependent on the water from the Rajavaikkal for farming purposes.
The water discharge was halted two years back, stating the construction of a concrete floor at the vaikkal.A water shortage existed for the past two years, affecting agriculture and animal husbandry.
