The coordinator talking to media persons stated that the 60,000 job opportunities that were about to be lost were prevented by the verdict issued in the Vanniyar reservation case today.
Coimbatore: The Coordinator of the Federation of rights of Backward classes, Coimbatore, Rathinasabapathy while talking to media persons informed that 28 communities in the backward class have not received any kind of benefits from government welfare schemes to date.
Rathinasabapathy, the coordinator of the Federation for Rights of Backward Classes in Coimbatore, interacted with media persons this evening. Talking about the judgment pronounced today pertaining to the case filed against the 10.5 percent reservation for the Vanniyar community, he said that the court has issued a big judgment.
The coordinator said that only a particular community has been heading the backward class commission. The 10.5 % reservation allotted by the previous regime for the Vanniyar community, was allotted for political reasons and not any legal basis. It was issued on the basis of the 1985 Ambashankar report.
Highlighting that 28 communities from the backward class have not been benefited from single government welfare scheme so far he said that the act introduced by the AIADMK government was against the Constitution of India. He alleged that the 10.5 percent reservation to a particular community without any statistics was invalid and the government had made errors in the matter.”
The court’s judgment regarding the issue, is huge he mentioned. Adding that if the Tamil Nadu government appeals the verdict in the court it will be fought legally. The verdict has prevented loss of the 60,000 job opportunities that are to be soon be created in Tamil Nadu.
There is a threat of losing government job opportunities for the backward class for the next thirty years if this method is not properly addressed. He mentioned it is saddening that they have not met the chief minister so far to discuss about reservations.
