At around 4am, driver Balusamy woke up to the sound of an unidentified person trying to break into a cash box and steal money. He immediately shouted and with the help of bystanders caught the person and handed him over to the Kattoor police station.
Coimbatore: Balusamy (45) is the son of Kaliyappan from Edappadi area of Salem district. He is working as a driver in a government bus from Coimbatore to Salem.
Last night he locked the fare collection money paid by the bus passengers in the box on the bus and went to sleep. At around 4am, driver Balusamy woke up to the sound of an unidentified person trying to break into a cash box and steal money. He immediately shouted and with the help of bystanders caught the person and handed him over to the Kattoor police station.
A subsequent investigation by the Kattoor police revealed that he was Mohammad Majeed, (21), son of Akbar Ali of Virudhachalam in Cuddalore district. The youth was subsequently arrested and taken into police custody.
