Corporation officials state that a notice will be sent to the landowner of the used car godown in Ramanathapuram where a huge fire broke out on Thursday.
Coimbatore: The land of the used car godown in Ramanathapuram is stated to be owned by the Corporation. Corporation authorities have planned to send a notice to the landowner.

A massive fire broke out at a used car godown in Ramanathapuram yesterday. A privately-owned old car godown is located in Sripathi Nagar on the Ramanathapuram-Nanjundapuram road in Coimbatore. The godown which is about one acre is located amidst a residential area. Used cars, accessories, and spare parts of the cars are stored in the godown. Besides, all the goods and waste removed from the old cars were piled up in bulk in one place.

A massive fire broke out in the godown at around 1.30 pm on Thursday.

The fire destroyed several old cars and their spare parts worth lakhs of rupees.
Meanwhile, a Corporation official stated, "The land where the godown is set up is the location of Scheme Road and has to be handed over to the district administration. Legal action will be taken and an investigation is underway. A notice will soon be issued to the owner of the godown on behalf of the corporation administration to prevent such incidents from occurring in further in the area. Legal action in connection with the incident will be taken. Steps will be taken to identify if there are any such encroachments in the area and recover the lands.”
