Youth who jumped into a river attempting to fetch gold is trapped in mud and dies

Vallarasu jumped into the river telling his friend Sekar that the sewage from houses and from various places is getting mixed. Hence they would get gold mixed mud from here. He dived into the river, was trapped in the bushes and unfortunately died.



Coimbatore: Vallarasu, (22), son of Guna, was a resident of Vellalore Housing Board Apartments, Coimbatore, and Sekar, his friend from the same area. 

The two had gone on a two-wheeler ride on the Noyyal riverbank from Nanjundapuram in Coimbatore yesterday.

Vallarasu informed Sekar that sewage from houses and from various places is getting mixed. Hence, according to Vallarasu, they would get gold mixed mud from here. Vallarasu dived into the river and could not make it back to the bank. 

Sekar shouted that his friend is trapped in the mud. The public of the area informed the fire department Fire fighters who arrived at the scene returned without the body of Vallarasu as they were unable to recover due to insufficient light.



However, in the rescue operation this morning, the body of the Vallarasu was recovered from the bushes in the river. The body was sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital. The death of a youth who jumped into a river to fetch gold has saddened everyone. Podanur police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
