A fitness trainer in Coimbatore who visited his wife’s home to meet his children was beaten up by his in-laws and the attackers took away his wristwatch, gold chain, and mobile phone.
Coimbatore: A thirty-year-old man, who went to his wife’s home to meet his child was not allowed to do so and was beaten by the in-laws.
Dharmadurai, (30) is the son of Sub Inspector Venkatesan, who lives in the Papanayakan Palayam Police Quarters in Coimbatore and is a fitness coach by profession. Dharmadurai fell in love with and married Hazel James, daughter of James of Podanur Sri Satya Sai Nagar. Hazel James works as a teacher in a private school.
Dharmadurai was repeatedly asked to convert to their religion by Hazel and her family, but Dharmadurai refused. This led to a disagreement between the couple and Hazel left for her parent’s house. She subsequently filed for a divorce and the case is underway. Dharmadurai visited Hazel’s house to meet his child on their wedding anniversary.
Hazel was away at the time of his visit and her family prevented Dharmadurai from meeting the child. The dispute escalated and Dharmadurai was physically attacked by her family members. The family also took away a four sovereign gold chain, a mobile phone, and his watch from the fitness coach.
An injured Dharmadurai was rescued by public nearby and admitted to Coimbatore Government Hospital. Dharmadurai lodged a complaint at the Podanur Police Station. Police have registered a case in the context of the complaint against Dharmadurai's in-laws James, and Hazel’s brother Vipin and his wife Hannah Maria.
