The Police have booked 16 members of Periyar Dravida Kazhagam who protested without following proper Covid Guidelines.
Coimbatore: 16 members of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam were booked by the city police who protested against the fuel hike in Coimbatore.
The agitators protested by laying flowers to the Prime Minister’s portrait placed at a fuel station. The police officers arrested more than 30 people of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam protestors. As many as 16 members including the general secretary, K.Ramakrishnan of the Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam, were arrested by the Race Course Police for protesting despite the ban imposed and also for not following the prescribed social distancing norms.
A case has also been registered against 14 persons, including CITU district secretary Padmanabhan, who protested demanding a ex gratia for Diwali. The protest was staged near the Coimbatore South Taluk office.
