Patrol officers found the carcass of an elephant with the tusks missing, aged between 25-30 in the Boluvampatti forest range during a patrol on Saturday.

The patrol officers who were on rounds in Boluvampatti forest range on Saturday found the carcass of an elephant, completely ruined with its tusks missing. The dead elephant's remains were fed on by wild animals such as wild boar and porcupine. The remains were found by the officers during the patrol.
The forest veterinarian declared that the animal must be dead for 40 days. The dead elephant might be 25-30 years old.
A case has been registered under 3/2021 Boluvampatti Forest Wildlife Crime Case 3/2021. Five separate teams headed by Coimbatore Assistant Conservator of Forests and Forest Officer probed day and night for 5 consecutive days to nab the poachers.

The investigating officers found the missing ivory hidden in a bush in the dense forest region on the 28th at about 12 noon. This bush is about 430 meters away from the area where the elephant carcass was found.
