Signs of Cyclone in Bay Bengal; Orange Alert issued for certain districts in TN for next 4 days

The Chennai Meteorological Department forecasted Orange Alert for districts including, Coimbatore, Nilgiris for the next 4 days as the atmospheric overlay circulation has exhibited signs of cyclone in Bay of Bengal.


Coimbatore: The Meteorological Department in Chennai has issued an Orange Alert various districts in Tamil Nadu, due to the signs of Cyclone in Bay of Bengal.

The next four days certain districts in Tamil Nadu will witness heavy thunderstorms due to the atmospheric overlay circulation and signs of cyclone in Bay of Bengal.

Rainfall status for the next four days as follows:

27.10.2021

Thunderstorms may occur in a couple places in Nilgiris, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram and Madurai districts. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder showers at a few places in Western Ghats, delta and southern districts, while, Interior areas, coastal districts Pondicherry and Karaikkal will have light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers at a few places.

Thunderstorms at certain places in the Delta districts, Pudukottai, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin and Madurai is predicted. Coastal districts, Pondicherry, Karaikal, districts along the Western Ghats and a few other southern districts may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder.

Heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur at a few places in coastal districts, adjoining interior districts and Pondicherry and Karaikal areas. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder showers at many places in other districts.

30.10.2021

One or two places in the districts and interior regions along the Western Ghats may receive thunderstorms. Other districts and many places in Pondicherry and Karaikal areas may receive moderate thunderstorms.

Chennai will be cloudy for the next 48 hours, while certain places might receive lighter downpour. For the state capital, the maximum temperature will be 33 and the minimum temperature will be around 26 degrees Celsius.

Low pressure area in the central part of the South of Bay of Bengal, cyclone winds may blow at 40 to 50 kmph in on 27th and 28th October. From 29th to 31st , cyclonic wind may blow at 40 to 50 kmph along the Gulf of Mannar and Tamil Nadu coast. Cyclonic winds may blow at 40 to 50 kmph in coastal areas of southern side of Andhra Pradesh on 30th and 31st. Fishermen are warned by the Met department not to venture into the sea.
